In the early days of the motor industy, cars were made by hand in a small workshops. Topday most cars are mass - produced in enormous factories. Computers and Industrial robotos are used for many jobs on the production line. The Car's  thousands of parts are made with great precision so that they will be exactly the same in each car. Such parts as electrical components, tyres and glass are usually not made in the same factory but are obtained from the other suppliers. Cars are carefully inspected and tested before they are shipped to distributors

         

Car makers are always trying improve the characteristics of the vehicle they build. While some engineers develop and test new parts for engines, outher produce new ideas for windscreens, tyres, seats, lights paint and other parts and materials. Before a factory begins production of new model, many people participate in the plans for it, a process that can take years. First the manufacturers decide what sort of car they want, how many people should carry, what its performance to be and what it will cost. Engineers then work out the technical design of the car. Stylish suggest attractive designs for the exterior and interior. Sales experts study the sales potential of the new model. When all parties are satisfied, a prototype is built and tested. If that is satisfactory, the car then goes into production
